Product: Dethlac® Insecticidal Lacquer, Barcode: 5 014009 022616

No. As with most aerosols, Dethlac® has a shelf life of two years. Expiry date is at the base of the can.

Dethlac® is a lacquer, containing the insecticides Deltamethrin and Natural Pyrethrum, which dries to a hard clear film after a few minutes. Dethlac should be sprayed where the ants appear in the kitchen (please read directions, as it should not be sprayed onto any food preparing surfaces). The ants crawl over the lacquer, carry it back to the nest and your kitchen should be free of ants.

One application remains fully effective for several weeks, even when it rains. You can wash the surface (with or without detergents) and Dethlac® will go on killing insects.

Spray 15-23 cm (6-9 inches) directly at surface, in bands of 8-15 cm (3-6 inches) wide.

It is not a requirement to wear a mask, but as directed on the can: Do not breathe the spray mist.

The aerosol should be disposed of in a safe way, the same way as you would dispose any other aerosol.

You won’t see any ants or crawling insects!

Yes the insecticides in Dethlac® are toxic to fish. Remove or cover fish tanks, bowls and aquariums before application.

It is perfectly safe once the spray is dry, which is normally within a few minutes. However, we would recommend that children and pets are kept away whilst spraying.

Hardly at all.

Please see our stockists page for a list of Dethlac® stockists. Back in stock Spring 2025.

To remove Dethlac, you can use Methylated Spirit, IPA (Isopropyl Alcohol) or Baking Soda (mix 1 part to 9 parts of quite hot water). Please always try a small patch first in case of discolouration. Wash over with warm/hot soapy water afterwards.

Yes Dethlac® may be used indoors & outdoors. It will not be affected by the rain and will remain effective even when the kitchen floor is washed. Dethlac® is not a space spray (e.g. for the control of flying insect pests) and is also not designed to be sprayed on plants, soil or grass; but on any firm non-absorbent surface.

Dethlac® Insecticidal Lacquer is a ready to use insecticide for amateur and professional use against ants, woodlice, cockroaches, fleas and other crawling insects. To be used only on hard, non-porous surfaces indoors and outdoors (not upvc).

Lift nozzle off the can and soak it in methylated spirit or white spirit. Rinse and place it back on the can.

Shake well before use. For control of insects, direct the spray at the ground and apply in bands 8-15cms (3-6″). Spray up to a maximum of 5 second bursts at a distance of 15-23cms (6-9″). Spray directly at surfaces on which insects walk or into cracks, crevices and other insect harbourages. Children and pets should be kept away from treated surfaces until product is dry. Test on a small inconspicuous area. Re-apply as necessary. Wear suitable protective synthetic/pvc gloves when using and do not eat, drink or smoke.

Do not contaminate foodstuffs, eating utensils or food contact surfaces. Do not apply directly to animals. Do not apply to clothing and bedding, including pet bedding, pet sleeping quarters or where pets frequently lie. Do not apply in or around drains.

Dethlac® is to be used as a surface spray, not a space spray.

Although not a requirement, it is advised to wear gloves when spraying Dethlac® and avoid breathing in the spray mist. Do not touch treated surfaces until dry and wash hands and exposed skin after use and before meals.

Keep in a safe place, out of reach from children and away from heat, hot surfaces, sparks, open flames and other ignition sources.

Rinse eyes cautiously with clean water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing eyes with clean water. Seek medical attention if needed and if so, have the product container or label at hand.
